Hundertwasser — Graphic Works
Original graphics, unique works, posters, objects From April to October 2009 and in the coming years, the Kreisdiakonische Werk Stralsund e.V. (KDW), which operates the Cultural Church of St. James, is presenting the exhibition “Hundertwasser at St. James.” Alexander Badrow, mayor of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund, is the patron of this exhibition. He called it a “fantastic project” and a “further element to delight tourists in the city.” More than one hundred objects in the graphic arts oeuvre of Friedensreich Hundertwasser (1928–2000) will be on display.
The exhibition focuses not only on graphic arts, posters, photographs, and textile objects, but also conveys Hundertwasser’s efforts regarding another way of living in an industrialized society and his thoughts on preserving creation and on human existence in the tension between passing and commencing. Minimal texts place his ideas in a relationship to cultural practices that describe Hundertwasser as a pioneer of ecological and humanistic critique of modern lifestyles.
The exhibition is open to the public in the Cultural Church of St. James (Kulturkirche St. Jakobi) in Stralsund daily from 10 am to 6 pm. For further information call (+49) 3831-30 96 96.
